Hangover is synonymous with drinking too much alcohol and many have felt its effects already after a night of drinking booze. One reason why alcohol makes you feel out of sorts is because it acts just like a depressant. Your brain’s normal activity gets bogged down because of the compounds found in the drink. And when your brain slows down, the production of certain types of hormones such as endorphins is minimized. The endorphins are responsible for making you feel good and when its level goes down, your mood changes as well. When you start to move around, the amount of endorphins released will increase thus lifting your mood making you feel much better as your body normalizes after drinking too much alcohol.
Choose the Right Workout
Of course, the level of exercise that you should be doing shouldn’t be as intense as before because you are still suffering from the effects of alcohol. If you often run in the morning, it would be wise to skip it and look for low-intensity exercises that won’t make you nauseous. Exercises such as light aerobics, yoga, dancing, and even swimming can help get your blood flowing and your brain to function better as you clear your head from your hangover. Don’t push yourself too much when you workout as it can exacerbate the effects of alcohol in your body.
Another thing that you should keep in mind after you drink a lot of alcohol is to drink water to replenish your store of water in your body. This is true especially if you are trying to exercise the following day because the water in your body gets depleted faster. Make sure that you have your water bottle with you and that you drink around 7 to 10 ounces every 10 to 20 minutes so you won’t get dizzy. Don’t forget to drink water frequently throughout the day so your body will remain hydrated.
Exercise does help when it comes to dealing with hangovers but it is important that you listen to what your body is saying especially when you are trying to exercise your hangover away.
