There has been numerous theories associating vitamin D deficiency to cancer. These have been confirmed in more than 200 epidemiological studies and its physiological basis has come from over 2,500 clinical studies.

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the US. About 1-in-8 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. For women in the US, breast cancer death rates are the second highest cancer death rates, with lung cancer being the first.

Can Breast Cancer Be Prevented, Just with Vitamin D?

Vitamin D has been proven to have great effects when it comes to breast cancer. Also, other lifestyle factors are also essential in preventing cancer, such as nutrition, exercise, managing stress and sleep. But, the importance of vitamin D seems to grow with every new research.

The researchers believed that 90% of ordinary breast cancer is related to the deficiency in vitamin D, which is 100% preventable.

How Does Vitamin D Work?

According to doctors from the University of California’s San Diego Moores Cancer Center, breast can be cure with Vitamin D. Without enough or a deficiency in Vitamin D, causes the structure of the breast to collapse and the cells to multiply, leading to cancer in many cases.

A team of researchers found that women who had high levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in their blood had about a 50% lower fatality rate, as compared with women who had low levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D in their blood.

Natural Sources of Vitamin D

  • Canned sardines and tuna fish both contain vitamin D, and are usually less expensive than fresh fish.
  • Cod liver oil has about 1,300 IUs of vitamin D per 1 tablespoon.
  • Fatty fish is a good source of vitamin D. These includes tuna, mackerel, salmon, trout, tand eel.
  • Mushrooms can produce vitamin D when exposed to ultraviolet light. Portobello mushroom will give you as much as 400 IUs of vitamin D per 3-ounce serving or about 1 cup diced mushrooms.
  • Sunlight
  • Almost all types of cow’s milk in are fortified with vitamin D, but cheese and ice cream are not.
  • The vitamin D present in eggs come from its yolk. Therefore, it is important to use the whole egg and not just the whites.
