According to WebMd, a wart is a skin growth that were caused by some types of the virus called the HPV or human papillomavirus. HPV infects the top layer of your skin, and it usually enters your body in an area of broken skin.

The virus may cause the top layer of your skin to grow rapidly, thus forming a wart. Most warts go away on their own, or within months or years.

You are at a greater risk of developing warts if you have a suppressed or weak immune system, due to illness or immunosuppressant drugs, or if you are taking communal or your occupation requires you to handle meat. While warts are generally harmless, they can be unsightly.

Treatment is not always necessary, but most people prefer to get rid of them sooner, as they can be somewhat painful or embarrassing.

5 Effective Natural Remedies for Warts:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.

Directions:
1. Using one part water, dilute two parts apple cider vinegar.
2. Apply the solution on the affected area through the use of a clean cotton ball.
3. Cover the area using a bandage or tape.

Notes:
Repeat this remedy for a few weeks. Within a few days, you will notice that your warts will start turning black. Soon after, the warts will fall, and will leave a small mark that will gradually vanish.

2. Banana Peels

Bananas contain a proteolytic enzyme, which is known to eat away at the wart until it’s gone. It actually dissolves and digests it.

Directions:
1. At least 2x each day, scrape the “mush” off the inside of banana peel.
2. Apply it to your wart.
3. Wash your hands thoroughly afterward, to keep warts from spreading.

Note:
Repeat this procedure, until the wart has disappeared.

2. Apply on the affected area.
3. Cover using a bandage.
4. Leave on for about 20 minutes.
5. Wash the area thoroughly.

Notes:
Repeat this treatment at least 2x daily for about 1 week. The caustic effect of the garlic will make the wart to blister and fall off. For larger warts, these may take longer to heal.

4. Manuka Honey

Organic Manuka honey, which were harvested in New Zealand, is known to be 1 of the most powerful medical hone, as it contains a high level of antiviral and antibacterial properties. It is known to create a type of “occlusion therapy”, which essentially means it deprives the wart of oxygen to kill it, in similar to duct tape, but easier to remove.

Directions:
1. Use a pumice stone to expose the wart.
2. Cover it thoroughly using a thick layer of the honey.
3. Put bandage around it.
4. Leave on for 24 hours.

Notes:
Changing the bandage as necessary and re-apply the honey daily, until the wart is gone.

5. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is an effective way to get rid of warts, as it has anti-septic and anti-viral properties, which can fight against the virus. By applying the oil, it will stop the infection and development of bacteria and fungi, to reduce redness, inflammation and irritation.

As it contains a powerful anti-microbial known as terpinen-4, which fights HPV causing warts. This will stop their growth and then dry them out, therefore, they will naturally fall off.

Directions:
1. Wash your hands and the area around the wart thoroughly.
2. Apply a drop of pure tea tree oil to the wart.
3. Put a bandage over it.
4. Leave on for at least 8 hours, or ideally, overnight.
5. Remove the bandage and clean the area.

Notes:
Repeat the process and continue to follow this process until the wart disappears or falls off. This will typically happen, anywhere between 1-4 weeks.
